Our ability to treat and detect viruses and ailment has increased tenfold since the outbreak of the H1N1 flu strain in 1918. Even though the capability to treat and care for patients has improved, the new coronavirus strain is still a threat to our society. Defense and medical personnel have been risking their health to ensure patients are treated and military readiness is maintained. The necessary actions nations have taken such as lockdown measures have been used to slow the spread of the virus, but now we need to focus on innovation and using technological advancements. Major face to face events were canceled due to the virus, such as 2020 Special Operations Forces Industry Conference. This event is now utilizing technology to host the conference online and ensure collaboration between companies that provide necessary support to the military and warfighters.
