Gunnery Sgt. Diego D. Pongo was killed in Iraq alongside another Marine last month. His memorial service had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings. On Sunday morning over 1,500 law enforcement vehicles and helicopters traveled through the Simi Valley home in Pongo’s honor. The city’s police department and Pongo’s sister-in-law planned the parade as a surprise. Community members participated and neighbors lined the streets while practicing social distancing measures. The parade lasted for over two hours and demonstrated a community coming together in a time of need.
