The U.S. Navy has AC-130 gunships and Apache attack helicopters waiting on standby after President Trump ordered them to shoot down Iranian vessels if they harass them again. This is on response to April 15th when eleven gunboats from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps harassed U.S. ships conducting training exercises in the Persian Gulf. Reports state that the Iranian vessels got within ten yards of the bow of the Coast Guard cutter Maui while traveling at high speeds. A tweet sent out by President Trump stated he had “instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea.”
