While the coronavirus has required many colleges to send students home before the end of the semester, everything has been moved online. Many students are now taking issue with tuition and room/board costs. While some schools have refunded the unused dorm room and meal plan costs, other students are taking legal action for actual class refunds. One student from New York City stated, “zoom university is not worth 50k a year. I didn’t pay to attend zoom.” Many are voicing their frustrations of missing out on experiences they paid for and trying to learn certain topics online, by themselves. More than 11,500 students from NYU have signed a petition asking for partial refunds because they are not getting to do everything they paid for such as mock trials, art projects and clinical experience.
