Irish special forces who were set to come home from Mali are still expected to rotate out despite the UN requesting an extension. They were originally set to return home at the end of April until UN secretary-general António Guterres stated that all rotations would be delayed until June 30th due to the coronavirus. However, the government requested an exception, and Germany will assist them in the removal of the troops. Once they return home the troops will have to self-isolate for 14 days. Currently there are troops waiting in Germany, who have already been in isolation, prepared to take their place in Mali.
