LabCorp testing company now has an at-home sample collection kit you can purchase that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. This is the first coronavirus at-home testing that has been approved. The testing kits will first have priority to go to health care workers and first responders. A health care professional can recommend the test to a patient after they have answered a questionnaire. Once the swabbed kit is sent out, patients can expect to receive their results with a couple days after being received by the lab. “Throughout this pandemic we have been facilitating test development to ensure patients access to accurate diagnostics, which includes supporting the development of reliable and accurate at-home sample collection options,” commented FDA commissioner Stephen Hahn.
