Russia’s Northern Fleet has finally added the much anticipated Akademik Aleksandrov to their shipyard. This is the 3rd ship built for the Navy as part of a special program designed to produce vessels with varying capabilities. It is believed that the new ship will be involved in top-secret missions and is designed to withstand the Arctic. It is allegedly built off an order from the Main Directorate for Deep Sea Research. The Akademik Aleksandrov and similar vessels are believed to carry numerous weapons and small stealth submarines built for use by their special forces. Defense analyst H.I. Sutton also reported that the vessel is being used to test a newer underwater weapon, the Poseidon underwater nuclear drone.
