As the coronavirus has pushed offices to close and for people to stay indoors, the Veterans Association health clinics have been conducting appointments online. March saw a 70% increase in the number of mental health appointments being conducted online or over the phone. Group therapy sessions have also moved to using online platforms, seeing a 200% jump in this. VA officials have also commented that there has been an increase in calls to the Veterans Crisis Line as people are looking for more information on medical care. “VA is open for business and we continue to provide same-day mental health services and mental health screening for veterans at-risk who require attention at any of our facilities,” commented VA Secretary Robert Wilkie.
