Zoom, a free video calling platform that has blown up in popularity since the coronavirus pandemic, is now off limits to military and Defense Department personnel. Air Force Lt. Col Robert Carver announced the ban extends to all service members, contractors and civilians due to security concerns. A list of approved video platforms has been released, including Milsuite.mil, Global Video Services Unclassified, and internally routed video calls. Since the use of Zoom has grown, schools and businesses have reported what is now being called “Zoom bombing,” where someone outside the network has joined the call or sent images to participants.
