On April 13th soldiers will start the tactical skills segment in the Special Forces qualification course. The Special Warfare Center at Fort Bragg and the rest of the military have been struggling to find a balance between maintaining readiness and protecting troops from the coronavirus. One response has been to move training, such as language classes, to an online-only format. Field training at Camp Mackall has continued as well, with social distancing measures being implemented when possible. Some students have been sleeping in the field rather than the Mackall barracks to avoid turning the building into a coronavirus incubator. Instructors have commented that this has actually provided more training and could be a blessing in disguise.
