The Dutch, Danish, Portuguese and French Ministries of Defense announced in a joint statement with Estonia that the country would be sending special operations units to Mali in order to help combat the growing unrest. All of these countries commented that they are working together to stabilize the situation and enable the growth of Malian security forces. Known as the Estonian Special Operations Unit, Kadi Silde, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, commented that the unit would work closely with the French special forces units already in the country.
