Coronavirus takes toll on U.S. military as it tries to aid civilians | WITN

The coronavirus has continued to spread across the nation and is beginning to take a toll on the military. Recruiting stations have closed, basic training numbers have been cut in half, and training exercises all over the world have been cancelled. Many troops are also quarantined or have to isolate due to exposure to the virus. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has recently commented on the readiness of the military, stating “in a period of months the worst will be over and the force will once again be fully mission capable.” Gen. Mark Milley has also spoken, saying the overall impact of the coronavirus to national security is low to moderate, but he is unable to provide an exact answer on what the future will hold.
