A civilian working at the U.S. Special Operations Command has tested positive for the coronavirus, making it the first case in SOCOM headquarters. This is also the third case to be reported at MacDill Air Force Base. Officials have announced that the worker tested positive on the 21st but had not been at work since the 13th. Those who had close contact with the worker are currently self-isolating. “USSOCOM is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force. We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and the local population,” stated the release. MacDill has also declared a public health emergency for the base and is working with health officials to contain the virus.
