The Emergency Response Units in Ireland have been deployed all across the country to help keep the peace in case of large criminal activity. They are also working alongside the Armed Response Units currently patrolling throughout the cities. As the number of cases and deaths caused by the coronavirus continue to rise, officials in Ireland began to fear an increase in criminal activity. The elite armed gardai are ready 24/7 to tackle any crime due to rising fear. The Deputy Commissioner also commented that the Special Tactics and Operations Command and Special Crime Operations units have not had a change to their roles. While their have not been any reported cases of looting or civil unrest, the presence of Emergency Response Units is designed to deter this from beginning.
