Esper’s dark vision for US-China conflict makes war more likely | Defense News

While the recent deal with the Taliban and the withdraw from Afghanistan has good intentions, it is not realistic. Also, the troops finally getting to come home and not serve another deployment to Afghanistan are now being turned to China. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has turned his sights from the Middle East and over to Asia as he prepares U.S. forces for a new conflict. He has also been looking at the number of troops utilized across the board to see where he can pull resources from in order to relocate them to the Asia-Pacific region in order to compete with the Chinese.
