Airman advances in quest to become first female Special Tactics Officer | Military.com

A female Special Tactics Officer candidate has been selected to continue her training following the completion of the STO Phase 2 Assessment. “She has successfully completed the Special Tactics/Guardian Angel Assessment and Selection Course, the first course for STOs within the Special Warfare Training Wing, and she is now awaiting the Pre-Dive Course,” commented 1st Lt. Jeremy Huggins. Only four women have attempted an STO or Combat Rescue Operator specialty, with the current candidate making it the farthest along. Two other women have also completed the Special Warfare Preparatory Course and are qualified to begin the Assessment and Selection course.
