Sens. Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen sponsored the bill to award the Army Rangers of World War II that has passed in the Senate. The service members who served will now be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest honor that Congress can bestow. “The Army Rangers of World War II valiantly put their lives on the line, serving in some of the toughest conditions to bring us to victory,” commented Hassan. The first Ranger mission took place on August 19th 1942 when 50 Rangers participated in the raid to protect the French town of Dieppe.
