Dietitians are warning people about the increased number of nutrition scams making their rounds on the market. “Miracle” supplements and weight loss programs and pills are often nothing more than a money-making con, but there are several ways to tell when a company is legitimate. An emotional rag-to-riches story is often a part of these scams, designed to draw you in with a compelling story. The lack of a registered dietitian is also a telltale sign, with any true supplement needing these professionals to unsure quality. Another major red flag is the presence of scare tactics, especially with something that has always been marketed as healthy or good for us.
