According to U.S. and Iraqi military officials, two U.S. special operations marines were killed during a raid by ISIS on Sunday. The raid was carried out by Marine Raiders and Iraqi security forces, and it targeted an ISIS hideout in the Qara Chockh Mountains. The identities of the two troops have not been released yet. NBC has reported that four other troops have been wounded. Being the first deaths in the fight against ISIS of this year, these deaths are the first to happen since August 2019 when Marine Gunnery Sgt. Scott A. Koppenhafer was killed in an operation in Iraq.
