After being wounded in an IED explosion, an SAS soldier was loaded onto one of two RAF Chinook helicopters containing medics and special forces. He was airlifted out of the warzone in Syria and taken to a medical facility in Erbil, Iraq. The two Chinooks that arrived to evacuate him are currently stationed at RAF Akrotiri in order to aid special forces troops on the ground. The crew from both of the aircraft were granted special permission by the Israeli military to pass through as they entered their airspace. Currently a detailed report has yet to be released on the wounded soldier, but he is believed to be in stable condition.
