Marine Commandant Gen. David Berger sent a memo on February 20th detailing 21 reforms he wants looked into. He also tweeted several of these, such as extending maternity leave to an entire year and increasing gender integration, which was met with mixed reviews. In hopes of having smarter candidates enlist, Berger also wants to raise the minimum Armed Forces Qualification Test score in order to enlist. Another reform would be to give pregnant Marines a year-long paid maternity leave and investigate limited duty during their pregnancy. The memo did not mention paternity leave increasing.
