A black hole in the center of a galaxy located 390 million light-years from Earth has released the biggest explosion in the universe. This explosion was recorded as five times larger than anything previously known and appeared to have taken place over the span of hundreds of millions of years. The lead author on the study commented that you could fit 15 Milky Way galaxies in a row inside the crater created in the cluster’s hot gas by the explosion. A hole in the cluster gas had been discovered in the past, but no one thought a hole that big would have been caused by an explosion until it was examined by radio telescopes.
