Why most endurance elites don’t endorse CBD (yet) | Outside Online

Sports Illustrated’s 2019 Sportsperson of the Year chose to endorse a CBD brand that claims their products will help with athlete’s recovery. However, CBD uncertainty has led to elite athletes keeping the oil on the sidelines. In 2018, CBD was removed from the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited drug list. THC is still on the list to be banned during competition. Becky Wade, who has run a 1:09 half marathon and 2:30 marathon, commented on her reason for staying away, stating “I find it hard to get past the strong, cautionary tone that USADA uses around CBD.” Nordic skier Ida Sargent also talked about how very few of her peers used CBD oil because it wasn’t NSF-certified.
