Rep. Mark Green was an Army special operations flight surgeon when he deployed to Karshi-Khanabad, Uzbekistan. The congressmen were listening to veterans discussing their service-related health problems when Green shared his story. Green was diagnosed with both colon and thyroid cancer. It is believed that the black goo has killed or sickened many who were exposed, mainly causing cancer. Many veterans have come together over social media and networking sites as hundreds share their story of being diagnosed with cancer and other health issues.
