Recent reports have been pouring in on how a female is about to graduate from the Special Force’s Qualification Course. This has re-sparked the debate on if women should be allowed to serve in SOF and in combat, which boils down to “can women do the same jobs as men.” While a female becoming a Green Beret is a new milestone, women have been participating in SOF deployment missions for years. An example of this is the late Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent. Shannon Kent was on her fifth SOF deployment while fighting ISIS in Syria. She would locate ground evidence for a SEAL team and was killed alongside three others, including another female.
