Army’s Best Sapper Competition to feature all-female team among other ‘firsts’ | Army Times

The 14th Best Sapper Competition will have teams comprised of all females, all cadets, and all international participants. The first all-female combat engineer team will be made up of Capt. Hilary Thomas and 1st Lt. Alyvia Orsini. Two cadets from West Point will also make up the first all cadet team. Capt. Pascal Filiatrault-Veilleux and Sgt. Marc-Andre Bastille are set to make up the first all international team, with both being from the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Center. The competition will be held from March 30 to April 1 at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Both Thomas and Orsini have Sapper tabs, with Thomas being the 27th woman to hold a Ranger tab.
