The senior leader of the al-Shabab terror organization was killed in Somalia by an AFRICOM airstrike. While names have yet to be released, the leader was responsible for an attack in Kenya on U.S. and Kenyan forces. The January 5th attack killed Army Spc. Henry Mayfield Jr and two U.S. Department of Defense contractors, Dustin Harrison and Bruce Triplett. The terrorists were also able to reach the airfield at Manda Bay and destroy six aircraft before being driven off. An investigation is currently being conducted as to why the fighters were able to get as far as they did before being engaged.
