US Army’s $7 billion wish list would boost multidomain units and wartime funding | Defense News

The Army’s unfunded requirements list for 2021 continues to climb and is currently at a total of $7 billion. This list is sent to Congress each year shortly after the defense budget is released in order to show where money would be spent if they had been given more of it. Details show that additional resources would have been used for wartime funding and multidomain units in Europe and the Indo-Pacific. “While we have managed to sustain readiness gains the Army has achieved in FY18-20 and further invest in our six modernization priorities, our progress is at risk in future years if we don’t have real growth of 3-5% in our budgets going forward,” commented Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville.
