President Trump announced at the beginning of February that Qasim al-Rimi, the leader of the terror group Al-Qaida, was killed in a counterterrorism operation in Yemen. Three weeks later, the organization has confirmed his death. The AQAP group located in Yemen is an affiliate of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida and is regarded by the U.S. as one of the most dangerous terror organizations in the world. “His death further degrades AQAP and the global al-Qaida movement, and it brings us closer to eliminating the threats these groups pose to our national security,” commented President Trump.
