Around 50 militants were neutralized during a two-phase operation that took place near the town of Mopti in Mali. The France-led Operation Barkhane has been targeting Islamic State and al-Qaeda terrorist organizations throughout the area. The recent raid also resulted in the destruction of almost 30 motorcycles, two pickup trucks, weapons, and other electronic equipment. Jet fighter aircraft, helicopters, and airstrikes accompanied the attack, with ‘neutralized’ referring to the death or capture of a militant. The ministry has commented on the importance of the recent attacks, calling them a win and steps taken toward a safer country.
