U.S. Special Operations Command has asked for $14.4 million to build “complex, hardened facility targets” to be used in training for JSOC. This would consist of a massive complex of underground bunkers, tunnels, and heavily fortified sites. Numerous countries outside of the Middle East use these types of fortifications to house weapons of mass destruction and to protect a command center, such as Russia, China, and North Korea. A location has not been announced for this site, just that it would take up approximately 19,200 square feet. The money requested would specifically go toward a “Training Target Structure for specialized sustainment training to defeat complex, hardened facility targets,” and that “no current facility exists to provide this necessary training.”
