The two Army 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) soldiers who died Saturday in Afghanistan, Sgt. 1st Class Antonio R. Rodriguez and Sgt. 1st Class Javier J. Gutierrez, are remembered as selfless warriors by the group’s commander. The two soldiers died from wounds sustained during combat operations in Nangarhar Province. Both 28-years-old, Rodriguez and Gutierrez were posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. Commander of the group, Col. John W. Sannes commented that the soldiers individually exemplified selflessness and served honorably.
