The Swedish Armed Forces have begun to prepare for a deployment to Mali in order to assist France and their Task Force Takuba. Headquarters have commented that while an exact figure has yet to be determined, the support will most likely come in the form of troops and helicopters from the Special Forces. A new deployment would see the special forces soldiers joining over 200 Swedish personnel already stationed throughout Mali. The Islamic State and their affiliates have been overwhelming FAMa, Niger, and Burkina Faso since 2012, leading to France deploying military personnel to build support for the new Task Force Takuba.
