According to the Ministry of Defence, Afghan commandos broke into a Taliban prison during an operation in the Bala Murghab district and freed at least 62 prisoners. The prisoners were Afghan Security Forces and included 55 National Army members, 2 border forces, 4 commando soldiers and 1 policeman. In the statement, it said, “5 Taliban militants were detained and many others were injured as a result of the operation.” The security forces members will rejoin the army and continue to fight the insurgency and enemies.
