Two days of national mourning went into effect in Burkina Faso following what the government called a terrorist attack that killed 36 civilians. Militant fighters entered a market in Alamou in the Sanmatenga province before attacking the locals and burning the setups and buildings. Recent months have seen a rise in violent attacks carried out by groups affiliated with the Islamic State that have killed hundreds of people and caused millions of others to flee from their villages. The government is calling for more cooperation and diligence between security and defense forces.
