A new fitness test idea for the Air Force is in the trial stages with the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base. If implemented, airmen will be allowed to take a mock PT test first. If they pass, it counts, and if they fail then they can take it again as the ‘real’ test. This comes after two airmen died after taking the PT test over the summer. Officials believe the two-test idea will reduce stress, therefore, improve results. Brooks Herrin, a Navy veteran, commented that change is needed in every branch’s PT test and that a healthier lifestyle and fitness ideas need to be implemented.
