This Vietnam vet made sure war movie ‘The Last Full Measure’ got it right | New York Post

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. John Pighini spent 24 years in Pararescue during the Vietnam War, where one of his missions included rescuing passengers from the hijacked Achille Lauro in 1985. Pighini, age 75, worked as a technical advisor for “The Last Full Measure” in order to ensure the details were historically accurate. He believes that even the small things, such as what kind of boots they wear and how different sayings are pronounced, are still just as important as bigger details. Even aspects, such as the way a bullet wound would look, went through Pighini’s approval.
