The National Security Guard in India, modeled after the German GSG and the SAS from the UK, is looking to update their priorities. Originally formed in 1984 to focus on fighting terrorism, the NSG has become more focused on VIP protection than their true purpose of anti-terrorism operations. In order to allow the elite group to concentrate on their true efforts, the government is passing VIP protection jobs to the CRPF and the CISF. Already providing protection services to specific high-profile persons such as ex PM Manmohan Singh and his wife, these groups are prepared to take on more.
