First US case of Wuhan coronavirus confirmed by CDC | CNN

Must Read

A new virus that appeared in Wuhan, China has made its first appearance in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Asia, six people have died, and hundreds have been sickened by the virus. Health screenings of airplane passengers arriving from Wuhan will be more strict moving forward. Recently returning from Wuhan, the unnamed patient that contracted the virus is in isolation at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington. Because heath screenings did not get implemented until after his return from Wuhan, Washington State and the CDC are tracking down anyone that has come in contact with the patient. According to John Wiseman, secretary of health for the state of Washington, they believe the “risk to the public is low.” The patient is faring well, and his isolation is kept out of an abundance of caution. Following this case, however, passengers coming from Wuhan to the U.S. will have to be taken to one of five U.S. airports doing health screenings. Those following airports are John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, San Francisco International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
