Green Beret who died during freefall training was 3rd Group team sergeant | Army Times

The Green Beret who died on Tuesday during a military freefall training event near Eloy has been identified to be Master Sgt. Nathan Goodman from 3rd Special Forces Group. Eloy, Arizona is a common location for advanced parachute training. According to Army Special Operations Command spokesman, Lt. Col. Loren Bymer, the incident is still under investigation and the manner in which Goodman died has not been disclosed. During his nearly two-decade military career, Goodman completed eight deployments: four to Afghanistan, two to Africa, one to Iraq and one to Kyrgyzstan. Goodman was awarded several awards throughout his career, and those include two Bronze Star Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, the Special Forces Tab, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist’s Master Rated Military Freefall Badge. His current residence was Hope Mills, and he worked at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
