Retired General Paul X. Kelley has passed away at the age of 91, having led the Marine Corps during the terrorist bombing in Beirut, Lebanon that killed 241 Americans. He served as an infantry officer and was later deployed to Vietnam as a commanding officer where he was awarded a Silver Star. At the age of 51 Kelley was promoted to general and succeeded Gen. Robert H. Barrow. He retired from the Corps in 1987, having served for 37 years.
