New in 2020: Planks on the Marine PFT—and how the Corps will try to stay the most fit branch | Marine Corps Times

Must Read

The Marine Corps have been found to be the branch with the thinnest members. Starting in 2020, Marines will now get to choose between doing crunches or holding a plank position for the Physical Fitness Test. Gender and age will not affect the plank regulations, with everyone having to hold it for four minutes and 20 seconds in order to achieve a perfect score. One minute and three seconds is the bare minimum. An app designed to help Marines expand their physical fitness knowledge and track their workouts is getting an upgrade. It will allow users to upload biometric data. 54 athletic trainers are also being set to join the Corps in 2020 to help treat and prevent injuries before they become a major problem.
