U.S. Army Rangers who fought on the beaches during D-Day are being set to receive the Congressional Gold Medal by congress. Before D-Day, the Rangers and other forces trained in Scotland to prepare. From July 1942 to March 1944 the 1st, 5th, and 29th Battalions all went to Scotland for training, making the country an integral part of the Ranger’s past. Ron Hudnell, a former Ranger whose father was among the Ranger’s to participate in D-Day, recalls his father’s stories about his time in Scotland and how the training made him “have muscles everywhere.”
