Must Read

According to U.S. officials, on Friday, a U.S. civilian contractor was killed on a Iraqi military base near Kirkuk due to a rocket attack. The events also left several U.S. service members and Iraqi personnel wounded. Iraqi security forces are leading the investigation and the response. The wounded service members and personnel were lightly wounded and will be reporting back to duty. The possible involvement of an Iranian-backed Shi’ite Muslim militia group, Kataib Hezbollah, is being investigated by the United States.

Since President Trump pulled the U.S. out of Tehran’s nuclear 2015 deal and reimposed sanctions, Washington and Tehran have been under pressure with heightened tensions. Washington has blamed Iran for all the attacks on the Iraq bases, and U.S. secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, has warned Tehran that any attacks on Americans or allies would be suffer a “decisive U.S. response.” Iran has denied the responsibility for attacks.
