The United States Special Operations Command has released data showing that 237 international students received training at MacDill Air Force Base in 2019. Many of these student attend one or two-week courses that are spread out throughout the course of the year. The Pensacola gunman who opened fire at Naval Air Station Pensacola was an international student receiving training to become a pilot. He was one of 5,181 international students training in the U.S. Some lawmakers are calling for a review of the vetting process, with others saying the incident requires serious concern, but not overreaction.
