President Trump has signed the U.S. Air Force Space Command into action with his signature on a National Defense Authorization Act. 16,000 active duty personnel in the Space Command will now be a part of the Space Force but remain in the Air Force for now. Heavy support and beginning processes will be derived from the Air Force, with around 5,000 members voluntarily switching over in the coming years. Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett has commented that the size and number of members is not what will make the new service, but rather technology, specialties, and capabilities will.
