Montgomery native honored by Italy Special Forces | Washington Times Herald

Sam Craney has been awarded the National Commemorative Cross for his team’s heroic actions that saved the life of an Italian Special Forces soldier. When their vehicle was hit by an IED, five service members were severely injured. Craney and his flight team kept the men alive at the scene on the roadside and continued to work on them in the helicopter. He has thanked the Army reserves for challenging him to be a better healthcare professional and believes the military program has taught him numerous skills he would have otherwise never learned.
