The Trump administration has announced plans to ramp up counterterrorism endeavors in the African region as a response. Increased security, intelligence, and U.S. presence will continue in the wake of more extremist groups on the rise. Africa Command has also announced the completion of a crucial drone base in Agadez, Nigeria.
