If you walk into a gym and look around, the vast majority of those inside will be wearing sneakers or running shoes, and occasionally the sporadic cringe-worthy workout boots. Working out in normal tennis shoes can drop your performance because your balance is incorrect, and the alignment of your feet are off. Zero-drop shoes essentially drop your heel down as if you are barefoot, improving your balance and enabling you to feel more natural in your shoes.
