Military working dogs play an indispensable role with their units by protecting troops, hunting down adversaries, sniffing out explosive devices, and finding hidden objects or people. Due to working with their handlers right in the action, they are often exposed to gunfire, explosions, and other loud noises. CAPS is a new technology designed to protect the canine’s ears and hearing that’s better than modified human ear protection. Developed by Army Research Lab, CAPS fit around the dog’s head like a hood and blocks loud noises and doesn’t restrict normal hearing or the ability to fit into smaller spaces.
